Appeals most (but not limited) to: “Save Myself” isn’t just the title of Justine Giles’ upcoming single. The song represents a mission statement for the Calgary, Alberta-based artist who is poised to make an indelible mark within the singer/songwriter world. Drawing inspiration from artists including Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette and Kacey Musgraves, Justine has developed her own distinctive sound rooted in her personal journey. “Save Myself” is the first taste of a new collection of songs chronicling the latest phase of that journey, during which she learned to take control of her destiny. The seed for “Save Myself” – co-written with Matt Blais and produced by Mark Troyer – was planted prior to the pandemic as she coped with the end of a close personal and professional relationship. However, she couldn’t get anything down on paper until making a bold solo move from Sudbury, Ontario to Calgary where she reconstituted her life and found the strength to make music again. “I feel that there’s been extreme growth over the past few years,” Justine says. “I’ve had good and bad experiences in the industry just like everyone else, but above all I’ve learned how to trust myself and find my own voice.” Justine has been profiled on CTV’s Marilyn Denis Show and was named Calgary’s representative in the Jim Beam Virtual National Talent Search, staged in conjunction with Canadian Music Week. Now with “Save Myself,” Justine Giles shows that she’s right where she is supposed to be at this point in her life—ready to fully embrace a career making music that is sure to have a deep and lasting positive impact on her audience.
