Jason Clarke is a Calgary-based upright and electric bassist. He began playing gigs in Vancouver at 15, and upon high-school graduation studied jazz performance at Capilano College (now University). He was a regular in the Vancouver jazz scene for years playing pick-up gigs, as well as having been a full-time member of bands in genres ranging from jazz duos and trios to big bands, pop-rock, and folk-rock. He has played in venues all over Western Canada, including international jazz festivals in Vancouver and Regina, as well as performing multiple live broadcast performances from CBC's studio in Vancouver. After taking an extended break from music Jason is back and playing regularly in multiple groups in Calgary. His strength is his ability to blend in and support the music, as well as his ability to listen to and follow his bandmates.
